Dance Dress Code

A dress code ensures that a teacher will be able to see a dancer's alignment and positioning.  The teacher needs to be able to see a dancer's mistakes.  Baggy clothing can cover bad habits, making corrections impossible.  No jewelry is to be worn in any dance style, at any level.

A dress code will help teach students discipline, helping with overall focus and energy.  Like a school uniform policy, a dance dress code can create unity among the dancers, give classes a unified look, and minimize distractions.

At Ignyte Performing Arts Learning Center, we believe the following dress code helps students set up for success, and have a sense of belonging and identity,

Little Sparklers Ballet

Girls: Pink Leotard with pink ballet skirt or tutu (mandatory), Pink tights, Pink Ballet Shoes, Hair in a Ballet Bun with a hair net (hair not long enough to be put in a bun, needs to be put up)

Boys:  Black T-shirt, Black Spandex Pants or Shorts, Black Ballet Shoes


Ballet 1 or Higher/Pre-Pointe/Pointe

Girls: Black Leotard, Tan Tights, Pink Ballet Shoes, Hair in a Ballet Bun with a hair net (hair not long enough to be put in a bun, needs to be put up)

**Ballet I has the option of wearing a black ballet skirt, higher classes do not**

Boys: Black T-shirt, Black Spandex Pants, Black Ballet Shoes, Hair Pulled away from face (ponytail or bun)

Ballet/Hip-Hop Fuse 1

Girls:  Black Leotard, Tan tights, Black Ballet Shoes, Hair in a Ballet Bun with a hair net (hair not long enough to be put in a bun, needs to be put up), Black shorts or stretchies (optional)

Boys: Black T-shirt, Black Spandex Pants, Black Ballet Shoes, Hair Pulled away from face (ponytail or bun)


Hip-Hop/Breaking (Including LS Hip-Hop)

Girls and Boys: Ignyte or black t-shirt (nothing inappropriate, preferably plain in color), joggers, sweatpants, or any comfortable pants (no jeans or shorts!) in black/gray/white/orange, and Hair Pulled away from face (ponytail or bun), Sneakers

**No jeans or shorts of any length**


African Fuse

Girls: Black Leotard, Tan Tights, Lappa, Hair in a Ballet Bun with a hair net (hair not long enough to be put in a bun, needs to be put up), Barefoot

Boys: Black T-shirt, Black Spandex Pants, Barefoot, Hair Pulled away from face (ponytail or bun)

 


Jazz / Modern / Contemporary / Fuse / Tap / Improv / Latin / Tumbling (Including LS Fuse, LS Tap, LS Tumbling)

Girls: Black Leotard, Tan Tights, Black Spandex or Cotton Shorts (no shorts, for Fuse classes containing a Hip-Hop component, black stretchies can be worn), Black Jazz Shoes, Hair in a Ballet Bun with a hair net (hair not long enough to be put in a bun, needs to be put up)

Boys: Black T-shirt or Tank, Black pants (no shorts!), Black Jazz Shoes, Hair Pulled away from face (ponytail or bun)


 

Stretching & Conditioning

Girls: Black Leotard, Tan Tights, Black Spandex shorts, Black Jazz Shoes, Hair in a Ballet Bun with a hair net (hair not long enough to be put in a bun, needs to be put up)

Boys: Black T-shirt or Tank, Black Spandex pants or black cotton shorts (no basketball shorts!), Black Jazz Shoes, Hair Pulled away from face (ponytail or bun)


Music (Guitar, Piano, Vocals.  Including LS Music)

Girls and Boys:  Ignyte t-shirt, black, gray, white, or orange shirt and appropriate pants, Hair Pulled away from face (ponytail or bun), appropriate shoes.


Adult Hip-Hop or Zumba Classes

Any shirt appropriate for the style of dance (preferably an Ignyte or black T-shirt), any pants appropriate for the style of dance (preferably black, gray, white, or orange), shoes appropriate for the style of dance

**No jeans or shorts of any length**
